Actor Max Ehrich, best known for his short-lived engagement to pop star Demi Lovato, has been arrested in Florida on charges of domestic violence, according to multiple reports.
Authorities said the 34-year-old actor was taken into custody on Tuesday night for battery on a person aged 65 or older, reportedly following a dispute with a family member. Ehrich was later released on $1,000 bail on Wednesday morning, police sources confirmed.
Erratic Social Media Activity Before Arrest
Just hours before the arrest, Ehrich’s social media activity had sparked concern among fans. The former Young and the Restless actor reportedly shared a series of emotional posts and appeared erratic during an Instagram livestream.
One post featured the words “My heart is broken,” along with a caption asking followers to send money to his mother via Zelle. Concerned fans flooded the comments, urging the actor to seek help and take a break from social media.
“Max, you need to take a break from the internet for a bit, please,” one fan wrote.
During one livestream, Ehrich’s mother, Rhonda Ehrich, appeared briefly, leading some viewers to express worry about his mental state.
A Tumultuous History with Demi Lovato
Ehrich and Demi Lovato, 33, began dating in early 2020 and got engaged just four months later. Lovato announced their engagement that July, sharing a now-deleted Instagram post where she described Ehrich as someone who made her feel “unconditionally loved.”
However, their engagement ended abruptly two months later, with sources at the time citing personal differences and media pressure as contributing factors.
Ehrich, who has also appeared in projects such as Southern Gospel and High School Musical 3, has largely stayed out of the spotlight since the breakup.
